  • Pixxel Imagery FAQ
    1. What is the global coverage & temporal resolution?

      Temporal Resolution: Within ±30° latitude: < 7 days | Above +30° and below -30°: < 4 days
Global Coverage: Between ±80 deg latitude, satellites can capture any location on Earth.
    1. How can you easily access the Pixxel data? Using APIs or any other generic framework.

Pixxel’s API enables programmatic access to Aurora’s imagery products and ordering system. Users can automate tasking, place orders with custom parameters (AOI, cloud cover, off-nadir angle, bandsets), track status, and download imagery in flexible formats with tailored spectral combinations.

Detailed API documentation is included in the Pixxel Developer Guide.

    2. What will be the latency involved in getting the data post order (in hrs or days)? Also, the latency difference b/w the archive imagery and tasked image capture?

Capture to delivery: 14–30 days post tasking order, depending on cloud/weather conditions.

Archival imagery: Pre-existing images in the Aurora Catalogue, available for instant purchase and download.

Tasked imagery: Requires a new capture; delivery takes 14–30 days after order placement, subject to weather conditions.
    1. What would be the difference in the price b/w archive & new (on order) imagery?

Below is a table illustrating the pricing difference between Tasking and Archival imagery

For more information on discounts as per entity, we have a Pricing List in place.

    1. What is the price difference in bulk v/s single tile imagery order?

Pricing for Pixxel imagery is not based on individual tiles—there is no cost difference between a single tile and one within a bulk order. Instead, pricing depends on the total volume purchased, with larger orders benefiting from volume-based tiers or negotiated pricing rather than per-tile discounts.

    2. What would be the limit of captures which we can task within a particular time frame?

There is no fixed limit on the number of captures that can be tasked within a particular time frame. Customers can submit multiple tasking requests based on their operational needs. The actual capture scheduling will depend on satellite availability, orbital passes, weather conditions, and priority of tasking requests.
    1. Some reports on data quality if possible compared to other constellations like EMIT, EnMAP

Our technical teams are currently preparing detailed data quality and benchmarking analyses comparing Pixxel with missions such as EMIT and EnMAP. Our Product Specification Guide outlines the key operational and satellite-level specifications and provides an overview of expected data performance.

    2. How long is the constellation supposed to be operational in the future?

The Pixxel constellation is expected to be operational for approximately 7 years. This operational lifetime allows for sustained hyperspectral data collection and continuity of observations over the mission duration.
